Another example of How important having your patients’ email addresses came up recently.

Some of my staff members thought it might be nice to have a 4-day Memorial Day weekend break. The schedule was blocked off for the Friday before Memorial Day and no one was put in the schedule.

The ony problem was that we have a hygienist who only works on Fridays, and she was never in on the decision and she planned to work.  Since I still had to come in that Friday for other reasons, I sent an eMail “Blast” out to all the private patients who are due for recall and cleaning and offered an incentive (waived the exam fee) if they would come in to fill the open Hygiene slots.  Within 5 minutes one patient booked and by 3 hours, the day was filled.

Our Dental Office Software — SuzyDental in my case — captures the eMail addresses of every patient that we can.  I am sure that every other Dental Office Software (EagleSoft, Dentrix, EasyDent, Mogo, etc.) gives you the same capability. 

We use this list to communicate with a specific individual patient with the click of the mouse on an email button or via a simple form tool that allows us to select patients who meet criteria we can specify:
